The MTP loopback contains MPO fiber jumpers configured in a loopback arrangement, with both ends of the fiber terminated in an MTP connector to create an optical path within the same connector. This configuration enables testing of device launch capacity and receiving sensitivity, particularly in 40/100G network communications. By returning signals, it helps identify various potential issues and facilitates effective testing and evaluation of individual components or interfaces within fiber optic networks.

Available in multiple configurations, these loopback modules accommodate 8-core, 12-core, and 24-core MTP connectors with various fiber configurations to match test port requirements. The 12F MTP Fiber Loopback Module specifically verifies and tests transceivers with MTP interfaces for 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ or 100GBASE-SR4 devices.

MTP Loopback modules provide looped signals to test transmit and receive functions. They are widely used in testing environments, especially within parallel optics 40G and 100G networks. Loopbacks connect Transceiver (TX) and Receiver (RX) positions of MTP transceiver interfaces, facilitating and accelerating insertion loss (IL) testing of optical network segments when connected to MTP trunks or patch leads.
